Collingwood Youth Centre Grand Opening
The Collingwood Youth Centre (“CYC”) will be celebrating with an official Grand Opening on Tuesday November 21st from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Nearly 200 local youth, volunteers, stakeholders, funders, fellow non for profit leaders and educators have been invited to gather at the CYC as the Board of Directors and staff officially begin the next chapter of the centre’s history.
Representatives from lead funders will be present for the ribbon cutting including the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Southern Georgian Bay Rotary Club, Simcoe County and the Town of Collingwood. The CYC’s operational management team from the Social Innovation Factory (“SIF”) including Elephant Thought’s and the Environment Network will also be on site to celebrate and answer questions.
“The new Collingwood Youth Centre is focused on helping the community’s youth, especially grades 8-12, build employable skills, learn about potential employers and connect with relevant support services,” commented Martin Rydlo, Director of Marketing & Business Development for the Town of Collingwood.
“Running a youth center requires a lot of resources” stated Martin Oosterveld, Chair of the Board of Collingwood Youth Centre Inc. “It started with the generosity of the Smith family in providing the building, and gathered momentum when Rotary and the Town of Collingwood stepped forward. Then the talented grant writing team at Elephant Thoughts took over and built an amazing partnership with the supporters we have today.”
The Grand Opening will also showcase opportunities for local businesses and organizations to get involved with the Collingwood Youth Centre, including sponsorship and programming partnerships.
There will be also be a general public Open House from 7:00-8:00pm on the 21st after the Grand Opening when anyone is welcome to stop by for a tour.
